Description
A collection that pays homage to the ancient legend of the Moor’s Heads. Set in Palermo during the days of the Arab domination, talks about a love story with a tragic end between a young Oriental woman and an Arab man. The famous pottery vases with Moor’s heads frequently appear on balconies in Sicilian cities, often adorned with beautiful ‘green hairs’.
The collection includes earring and necklaces with an ironic and fun style, a warning for your partners!
Each piece in the collection is strictly handmade in all its stages, from the study and design of the pattern, to its creation and decoration, to the selection of finishes and stones.
Donna Pidda reinterprets the Sicilian traditional icons (majolica tiles, pine cones, bullheads, prickly pear shovels and cart wheels) to bring to life vibrant and whimsical bijoux that lend a touch of typically Sicilian “warmth/colour” to any look. A collection that translates the colours and material of our land giving the wearer the opportunity not only to have a unique piece but also to take a piece of Sicily with them.
Techniques: Each clay piece is shaped, air-dried, smoothed, decorated with acrylic colours and polished with water-based paint.
