Description
A collection inspired by the colourful Sicilian majolica, the precious hand-decorated tiles that lined the floors of the island’s most beautiful villas and opulent noble palaces.
Each majolica contains an exotic charm resulting from the transit through Sicily of different populations and traditions that over the centuries allowed local ceramists to develop a unique style by reworking techniques and decorative motifs from around the world.
Each piece in the collection is strictly handmade in all its stages, from the study and design of the pattern, to its creation and decoration, to the selection of finishes and stones.
Donna Pidda reinterprets the Sicilian traditional icons (majolica tiles, pine cones, bullheads, prickly pear shovels and cart wheels) to bring to life vibrant and whimsical bijoux that lend a touch of typically Sicilian “warmth/colour” to any look. A collection that translates the colours and material of our land giving the wearer the opportunity not only to have a unique piece but also to take a piece of Sicily with them.
Techniques: Each clay piece is shaped, air-dried, smoothed, decorated with acrylic colours and polished with water-based paint.
